I confess i'm not a Trekkie. I'm not a fan of the series. I didn't know the names of the main characters until I watched the movie. BUT, i somehow did know that the spacecraft that Captain Kirk flies is called the U.S.S Enterprise which was odd. Hmm....maybe that name was stored somewhere in my memory when I was randomly flipping through the channels and stopped at this programme called 'Star Trek'. Yeah, i could definitely recall that moment where i sat in front of the tv and thought to myself "what the heck am i watching?". These people were dressed in funny outfits, some had pointy ears and funny hairdos, and a few didn't even look human. When it finally showed the spaceship, i guess that was when the name kind of went into my head. And then i remembered i changed the channel because i wasn't going to watch this slow, boring show. This is based on my memory, am not so sure about how it really went, but i think i got most of the details right. I think..haha.

So, you must be wondering why in the world did i even bother to go and watch this film. Well, i've got two words - Chris Pine. Yes, i'm aware that most if not all Star Trek fans might think that my reason is lousy, but i really don't care. I went to see it because i've never seen Chris on the big screen. I've watched 3 of his movies either through DVD, Astro, or local tv channel. Obviously this was one opportunity i wasn't going to miss and i'm totally glad i didn't because the film was entertaining. Imagine that, 2 hours in the cinema watching Star Trek. Come to think of it, i can't believe i sat through the entire movie without a glance at my watch until it ended. So, what i'm trying to imply here is that the film is worth seeing and if you haven't seen it yet then get your butt off the chair (this applies to those who are sitting only) and go to the nearest theater and buy yourself a ticket. Seriously, the director and screenwriter did a fantastic job; there was humor, action, drama, and romance present. Last but not least, Chris Pine as the young, carefree, funny, extremely good-looking Captain Kirk. Need i say more?

The guy on the left (Shatner) is the 'original' Captain Kirk. Most Trekkie purists prefer him although i prefer the one on the right a million times better!

May 10th 2009 - a very important date to remember for all daughters and sons. Today is the day where each of us can show our appreciation for all the things that our mums have done for us. However, i'd like to remind myself and everyone else that the thankfulness doesn't end as soon as the clock strikes 12 tonight. We should always, at least try to remind ourselves that we won't be where we are now without the support, guidance, and love from our mums. So here's a little wish for you ma...happy mother's day. I know that we can't celebrate it together like we always do but the whole family is thinking of you. Nenek and atuk misses you too. We wish that we could have our usual mother's day dinner at grandparent's place with your siblings, nephews, and nieces and of course those two toddlers...haha...I love you mama with all your quirks and eccentricities. I realize that i can be ungrateful at times and i'm very sorry for that. But you have to know that you're my everything, and i thank you for being my mum. Once again, happy mother's day to you and nenek. You guys rock! :)

nostalgia

This week made me realize that there is this list at the back of my mind, despite my attempts of hiding it. I just felt like it's better to acknowledge it rather than be in denial. The list that i'm referring to is a list of the things and people that i'm currently missing. Some entered the list quite recently when i got back to college, a few made it in due to certain circumstances, while others were present for some time now. I realize that this list can never be fixed and it is always changing with time. Still, i just feel the need to let it all out since it's slowly picking at my already temperamental moods.

The people/things that i yearn for at present.

1. My mum - i miss having her at home, her cooking, our breakfast every Monday morning before i go back to college...etc.

2. These two close friends of mine although they haven't left for the States yet. I can't help but think about when they actually do depart and we go our separate ways. The prospect never fails to sadden me everytime.

3. My room-mate at UM who is also a really good friend of mine. I seriously miss those late-night chats before going to sleep. We never seem to run out of topic to talk about which took us quite some time to actually fall asleep even after we both had already said goodnight for the 5th time...haha

4. This person who i didn't think i would be quite close to after only a few months of knowing one another. I kind of lost my Idol buddy since he is no longer an INTI student.

5. Cheerleading. I miss my team-mates, my stunt members (you know who you are), the dancing, the cheering, the adrenaline, the rush of being thrown in the air, and definitely the outfit. haha

6. The idea of being in school. I don't mean the restrictions, the tight school rules, saporific classes, and the like. I mean the fact that you don't have to bother yourself with the 'real world' which is full of uncertainties. I wish i could go back to that but i know it is beyond possible.

7. The violin. I picked it up yesterday and started playing it and it made me realize that i actually miss playing the instrument. I guess i sort of forgotten what attracted me to the instrument in the first place till i started playing a few notes.
