You know when you're in high school, when you were in the adolescents phase and you want your parents to not treat you like a kid because you're convinced that you are already matured and can pass for an adult. You feel like you can handle whatever news that they refrain from talking about it in front of you for they don't want to bother you with their troubles. This sometimes bother you because you haven't got a clue as to what was happening that was kept under wraps. So, you mind your own business and distract yourself with school, friends, sports and other petty problems that you have regarding this narrow world that you immerse yourself in. Do these scenarios sound familiar to you? They sure do to me.
I don't remember exactly when my dad actually spoke to me about the things that perturb him. At first, it felt like i was getting what i wanted. And that was being spoken to like an adult, not a puerile teenager. But then, as this 'talk' continues to progress, i can't help but find myself wondering why he was telling me these things. I mean my mom seldom update me about the stuffs that she is concern with. She will inform me about it only if it becomes critical. Plus, the message that she wants to convey comes pretty straight-forward compared to my dad who often hide around the bushes with hope that i understand what he is implying. I don't really like when people speak to me in 'riddles' though i admit i'm guilty of doing that sometimes when i'm trying to avoid answering questions or feel uneasy talking about the subject. I prefer it if the message is given in a forthright manner.
On second thoughts, i'm kind of glad that they chose not to include me in their hush-up discussions through that era of my life. I realize that i'm ignorant in that way but i guess it was fine at the time for i had less things to worry about. A famous quote from Socrates: "Knowledge is virtue, ignorance is vice" . Yeah, well you know what Socrates, i disagree. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss and if you're alive you will surely ask me why since you're well-known for your dilectic conversations. I'll tell you why, because virtue to you is a pleasing sensation, and you said knowledge gives one contentment but not all knowledge does that. It's also incorrect to say that ignorance gives one pain for there is no substantial proof to support that claim. So yeah, i disagree. Oh my goodness, i'm having a monolog with a dead person. I blame this for taking Philosophy this semester. Okay...moving on....
